SUBJECT: Lake Bluff PTO Newsletter - April 10, 2025

Spring is here!

Have you seen the tulips popping up around the school? Soon the 1000 red tulip bulbs will bloom to celebrate 100 years of Lake Bluff! Thanks to our Beautification Committee for their hard work.


Don't forget to RSVP to the Family Math Night next Tuesday, April 15th. Join the PTO and the crew from Mathnasium for a night of math fun raffle, prizes and snacks!Raffles include spirit wear, a Lego Set, free month membership to Mathnasium and more. There will be activities for all grades and an entire table of snacks! Bring the whole family to the Cafetorium and RSVP to the event here. Volunteers are still needed! Click here for more information on volunteering and to RSVP.


The PTO Meeting is next Thursday, April 17th at 8:20 am on the front lawn. We will have it outside (weather permitting) right after drop-off. We plan to discuss the upcoming events -- Talent Show, Screen Free Week & Teacher Appreciation Week. All parents and caregivers are welcome, coffee will be provided.


The Talent Show is back, Thursday, May 8th at 6pm. We are proud to announce that every grade and MAC class is being represented (third grade and up). Students will sing, dance, perform magic and more in the Cafetorium. All family and caregivers are welcome to join in celebrating Lake Bluff's talent!


As the end of the year approaches, the PTO is looking for donations to the Staff Gift Fund. Lake Bluff is lucky to have 75+ staff and we want to show our appreciation for each one of them. Please consider contributinghere

Join Family Math Game Night, Please RSVP and Volunteer! - Tuesday, April 15


The popular event is back! Please join us for Family Math Game Night sponsored by Lake Bluff PTO and Mathnasium of Whitefish Bay.

  • Date: Tuesday, April 15th
  • Time: 6:00 - 7:30 pm | Stay for as little or as much fun as you like!
  • Location: Lake Bluff Cafetorium - Please enter via the parking lot doors (across from the tennis courts).

All Lake Bluff families are invited to attend this fun evening of math games suitable for all ages. Snacks will be provided. Students will complete math games and enter to win prizes. Raffles include Squishmallows, Lego Sets, one Free Month Membership to Mathnasium and more!

Volunteers are needed to help with the various math stations - parents, caregivers, and high school and middle school students are welcome to volunteer. There will be a short training session held at 5:30 pm. Sign up below to help!

Buy Lunch for a Staff Member!

We will be celebrating Staff Appreciation Week at Lake Bluff from May 5-9. This is a great time to say "THANK YOU!" to all of the important people who impact our students' lives each day. On Thursday, May 8 the PTO will be providing a catered lunch for all staff members. If you'd like to contribute you can do so here!

Hot Dog Day T-Shirt Sponsors Needed!

Looking for some local advertising? Hot Dog Day is a long-standing tradition at Lake Bluff. This year, Lake Bluff PTO is hosting Hot Dog Day on June 5th, from 12:00-1:00 pm on the front lawn of Lake Bluff. 500+ students will wear these shirts on June 5th and beyond.

All Are Invited to the PTO Meeting on Thursday, April 17th

April 17th is the next PTO meeting of the school year. Please join us right after drop off (8:20am) as we discuss upcoming events including the Talent Show and Hot Dog Day. 

We will have it outside (weather permitting) right after drop-off on the Lake Bluff Front Lawn. Coffee will be provided, all parents and caregivers are welcome!

Earth Day Clean Up - April 22nd

On Tuesday, April 22, join us after school to commemorate Earth Day with a Lake Bluff clean-up! Trash collection supplies will be provided. We will be meeting by the bike racks at the Lake Bluff front doors at 3:30pm. All family members are welcome to join, but this is not a drop-off event.

All School Read - Skunk and Badger

We are delighted to announce the start of our eighth annual All-School Read event! This year, we are gathering around the illustrated chapter book Skunk and Badger by Amy Timberlake, with illustrations by Jon Klassen.

We will officially kick off the event on Monday, April 14th - be sure to check our website for the reading schedule, weekly questions (prizes will be awarded) and special guest reader videos featuring our Lake Bluff staff members!

Screen Free Week - May 5th through 9th

This is a global invitation to take a break from entertainment screens and experience more peace, connection and fun!

Anyone can participate, simply choose the platforms/apps/devices most problematic for you or your family, set a goal (take an hour off, a day, or the whole week!) and enjoy the free-time that opens!

Scholastic Book Fair - May 6th through 8th

The Book Fair is coming to Lake Bluff this spring! All students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair during the school day, additionally it will be open immediately after school on Tuesday (5/6) and Wednesday (5/7), with extra hours before and after the talent show on Thursday (5/8). 

A volunteer sign-up and  more information will be coming soon!

The Lake Bluff Talent Show Returns, May 8!

Auditions have been held and the students are hard at work. Mark your calendar  to attend the Lake Bluff Talent Show on Thursday, May 8th at 6pm in the Lake Bluff Cafetorium. You will be so impressed by the talented students in our community.


Family Music Nights

Join Ms. Church in the Lake Bluff Cafetorium for Family Music Nights! These are informal and multi-generational evenings of joyful singing, dance and musical fun. These activities last about 35 minutes.

Did you know you can shop online for Lake Bluff spirit wear and gifts? The shop has a small curated collection of items including t-shirts, mugs, water bottles, Pura Vida bracelets and more! Items are delivered to classrooms weekly.

Have you registered for the School Directory?

Please take a moment to go to the PTO Website, www.LakeBluffBeagle.com. Within five minutes and a few clicks, you can update your child's information in the PTO/School Directory, pay your annual contribution to the teacher/staff gift fund, review the volunteer opportunities, and more. Please be sure to select this year's teacher for each student to receive class-specific communications.

The Lake Bluff Directory is the only place to find the names and contact information of Lake Bluff students. It serves as the school directory. Also, by updating/inputting your information, the PTO can send occasional emails regarding upcoming events.

How the PTO Supports the Lake Bluff Community

It's the PTO's mission to foster the Lake Bluff through community events and supporting the wonderful staff. The PTO raises money to support a wide array of programming for the Lake Bluff Community. What do we spend it on? 

To date in the 2024-25 school year, your volunteer run PTO has:

  • Free Little Libraries installed and filled. (One FLL was donated by the 2023 6th grade class and the other was donated by the PTO in conjunction with the All School Read)
  • Hosted the New Families Popsicle Social for over 240 people and gifts for new families
  • Hosted Back to School Breakfast for all staff
  • Provided mini-grants to all teachers to help underwrite the out-of-pocket beginning-of-the-year costs
  • Beautification and cleanup of the Lake Bluff grounds
  • Hosted our Welcome Back Coffee
  • Planned and Hosted the 100th celebration!
  • Hosted Walk & Roll to School Celebration
  • Hosted a the Fall grounds beautification and planting
  • Planned Parent Teacher Conferences' Staff Buffet 
  • Executed Beagle Dash
  • Hosted Hot Chocolate for the Halloween Party
  • Planted 1000 tulip bulbs across the school grounds
  • Hosted Scholastic book fair and made sure every child had a book and all classroom wish lists were fulfilled.
  • Distributed over $14,000 in Education Grants throughout Lake Bluff
  • Thanked teachers with Thanksgiving Pizza Pie lunch.
  • Planned, purchased and wrapped Holiday gifts for all 78 staff members through the Staff Gift Fund. 
  • Coordinated Holiday Treat Buffet for staff
  • Purchased books for little free library.
  • Planned winter break Admirals game
  • Hosted the Lake Bluff Movie Night
  • Staff Valentine's Gift
  • 5th and 6th Grade Dance
  • Staff St. Patrick's Day Gift
  • Spring Conference Snack Buffet
  • And more...
Volunteer - We have opportunities for everyone's interest and availability!

Please take a few minutes to look at the list of volunteer opportunities. We have something for everyone's interest, time limits and talents. Spring events include the Family Math Night, Talent Show and the Sixth Grade Graduation!

We are also beginning to gather volunteers for events during the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested in getting involved please complete this interest form!
